Mice

Common Name: House Mouse
Scientific Name: Mus domesticus
Identification: Size 7-9cm (head and body) tail is slightly smaller than body. Colour ranges from brown to grey and sometimes they display a lighter stomach. They have large pinkish ears and large black eyes compared to a young Norway rat (rattus norvegicus).
Habitat and Biology: House Mice are extremely common all over the world, they are ground living but will climb if and when needed. Mice present a large problem to human as their size enables them to go undetected for considerable time enabling an infestation to grow. Mice usually live in families of 7 and as population increases the dominant male will become more aggressive pushing subordinate males away. Therefore, colonies of mice in a locality become separated spatially due to their territorial behaviour. Mice feed sporadically (little and often) and need to only consume 3 grams of food a day. Water is not essential as they are able to find enough in their foods. Mice can be found anywhere in a house/site where food and harbourage is available. Their soft skulls allow them to penetrate into holes smaller than 10 mm, gaps around pipe work leading into kitchens are very vulnerable to intrusions. Nesting sites can be in wall/floor voids, disused storage spaces, under kitchen units, sheds and anywhere that offers secure harbourage.
Life Cycle:
- 5-6 young per litter (one female will have 7-9 litters per year)
- Gestation period 21 days
- Sexually mature by week 8
Have you just discovered mice droppings or seen a mouse scurrying off? Please don't panic EECG can help eradicate the present infestation and follow up your treatment using bio-security to prevent further intrusions. For commercial pest control please click here
Mice enter our properties for two main reasons; one for harbourage and two for food. Most properties offer Mice harbourage, wall voids, ceiling spaces, kick boards (under kitchen units) and suspended floors are free from humans and offer warmth. Once Mice find their way into these areas they are able to navigate around the entire fabric of the building using the many pipe and electrical wire networks.
When it comes to food; we have it all ready and waiting for them in abundance. Crumbs from the cutting board, the fruit bowl, toasters full of seeds, children's finger food, pet food bowls all provide plentiful food sources.
How can EECG eradicate them?
Once you have made a booking you will be visited by one of our expert technicians. On arrival the followings actions will be taken;

Recommendations
Depending on the findings we will produce a systematic structured routine schedule. In most domestic homes we can usually eradicate a small/medium "standard" mouse treatment infestation in 14-21 days.
How a "standard" mouse treatment works
Visit One will identify areas of activity, purpose of intrusion, infestation size, inspect external perimeter boundary for entry points and begin application process.
Visit Two (14-21 days later)will allow us to evaluate mortality rate, inspect all previous areas of activity and if requested block main entry points.
Why use EE Control Group over DIY Pest Control Products?
DIY Poison: It's remarkable that this is still on sale in retail outlets as these are dangerous toxic substances and only trained personnel should warrant the use of them. There are two main reasons why they are useless. Firstly, the potency content is sometimes too strong and the mouse will die straight away leaving you bad smells and eventually flies. Secondly, the process used to make the blue wheat based poison (commonly sold in the UK) has got some major flaws. The wheat is dipped in a water based poison and little is absorbed, the mouse gnaws away the shell (feeding habit) and the poison is left leaving the mouse full on edible wheat!
Sonar Plug in Devices: These have misled so many of our past customers as the "full guarantees" are seldom challenged and people tend to forget the money they spend on each unit. We have witnessed young mice running towards these devices as they send out the exact same sound frequency of a mother calling it's young.
EE Control Group: We can provide you with facts over fiction and explain why we know our services are unique and provide solutions tailored to last and prevent further intrusions.
